Areas of performance: Kuwait, Somalia, Albania, Macedonia
and Kosovo. Services performed include initial entry, establishing
marketing, operations and administration and eventually Country
Manager of on-going design-build general contracting operations.
Construction projects included various commercial, institutional
and medical facilities, infrastructure, civil and life support
and other contingency support services dictated by the specific
environment.
Projects in Kuwait, Kosovo, Albania and Macedonia resulted
in teaching and training hundreds of local civilians in economic
empowerment skills such as construction trades in concrete,
electrical, plumbing and quality control, and administrative
functions such as accounting, personnel management, logistics
and procurement. In all cases, construction quality achieved
international standards including the British Standards Institute
(BSI).
Projects involving vertical environments such as large volumes
of concrete or asphalt included quarrying, bulk cement sourcing,
batching plants, transport, elaboration and final testing.
Vertical integration is typically maximized to enhance efficiency,
control quality and to guarantee production schedules. Similar
vertical integration and operational synergies can be developed
in services offerings for unique industries such as petroleum
and telecommunications.
One negotiated project in Kuwait was to reinstate the oilfields
in conjunction with the collection and destruction of unexploded
ordinance. The project encompassed 850 square kilometers in
five separate oilfields spread throughout the country. A fifty-six
day schedule was allowed from the moment of notice to proceed,
with a $10,000 per day liquidated damage penalty. The project
was completed on time and at completion engaged forty-four
front-end loaders, six dozers, several school buses including
two hundred laborers, fuel trucks, E.O.D. teams, etc. The
contract was performed for Royal Ordinance, a subsidiary of
British Aerospace.
